Brantford Bulldogs acquired forward Zakary Lavoie from the Niagara IceDogs in exchange for three draft selections on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
In exchange for Lavoie, the Bulldogs sent Niagara a 2025 third round pick, a 2025 eighth round pick and a 2026 third round pick.
Lavoie, a product of Orleans, was originally selected in the first round, seventh overall, by the Mississauga Steelheads in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection Draft.
Lavoie arrived in the OHL, scoring 23 goals and 44 points as a rookie in the 2021-22 season. The fleet-footed right winger continued to rack up points in the 2022-23 season split between Mississauga and Niagara potting 29 goals and 57 points.
Named the IceDogs captain for the 2023-24 season, Lavoie brings explosive speed to the Bulldogs lineup with an offensive touch that will excite the Brantford crowd.
“Zakary is a player we are very excited to bring to Brantford” said Matt Turek, General Manager of the Bulldogs. “Zakary plays with great pace, has a goal scorers touch and brings the character and leadership we look for in a Bulldog.”
