Brantford Bulldogs traded defenseman Jorian Donovan to the Saginaw Spirit on Monday, January 8, 2023.
In exchange for Donovan, the Bulldogs received a series of eight OHL Priority Draft selections including: a 2025 second round pick, two third round picks in 2025, a second, third and fourth round pick in 2026, and a third and fourth-round in 2027.
Donovan, originally the sixth overall selection in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection Draft, has accumulated a tremendous resume while with the Bulldogs organization.
Part of the 2022 OHL Champions in his rookie season, Donovan went on to be drafted to the NHL by the Ottawa Senators (fifth round, 136th overall), played in games with the AHL Belleville Senators, set the career record for goals by a Bulldogs defenseman (24) and most recently represented Canada at the 2024 World Junior Hockey Championships.
“Jorian has been an integral part of the Bulldogs foundation” said Matt Turek, General Manager of the Brantford Bulldogs. “It is always tough to move a player of Jorian’s talent and more importantly Jorian’s character. He leaves a wonderful legacy with the Bulldogs as both a player, a leader and an OHL Champion. We wish Jorian the very best with the Saginaw Spirit at the Memorial Cup and continued success in his professional career.”.
