City of BrantfordCity announces opening of Pinehurst Childcare Centre

City of Brantford announced the opening of Pinehurst Childcare Centre, a new child-care centre located in Paris, offering 97 licensed child-care spaces for families in the community, on Wednesday, February 11, 2025.

As the consolidated municipal service manager, the City of Brantford provides child care and early years services to the County of Brant. This new centre is part of the initiative to open 985 new child-care spaces in the City of Brantford and County of Brant between 2022 and 2026.

“We are thrilled to embark on this journey of providing quality care and early education to children and families in our community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners, supporters, and the community for their continued encouragement. We look forward to creating a safe and fun space where children can explore, learn, and grow,” said Deki Shukla, Owner of Pinehurst Childcare Centre.

Providing affordable and accessible child care for families is a key part of Building Our Community from the Kids Up,  Brantford-Brant 10 Year Child Care and Early Learning Plan , as well as the provincial and Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) initiative.

To date, 386 new community-based spaces for children ages 0-5 years old have been added throughout the City of Brantford and County of Brant through new centres, expanding rooms at existing child-care centres, and opening new home-based licensed spaces. Within the next three years, 270 additional community-based spaces, as well as 329 full day school-based spaces are set to open at the following schools:

  • Banbury Heights Public Elementary School
  • Cobblestone Public Elementary School
  • The new West Brant Public Elementary School
  • Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys Catholic Elementary School
  • St. Padre Pio Catholic Secondary School

Local families can apply to Pinehurst Childcare Centre or other licensed child care through OneList Brantford-Brant. With a single account, families can apply to multiple centres, explore locations on a map, learn more about each child-care centre, and find out if they offer reduced fees through CWELCC. The City also continues to provide child-care fee subsidy for eligible families who are working or attending school. More information is available at Brantford.ca/ChildrensServices

“Thank you to Pinehurst Childcare Centre for choosing the County of Brant as its home. This new facility will provide essential support for parents and caregivers, offering a safe and nurturing environment for children in our community. We also extend our appreciation to City of Brantford staff for providing support for these important initiatives, ensuring families have access to quality childcare services,” said David Bailey, Mayor for the County of Brant.

The City of Brantford is continually grateful for the contributions made by the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada in support of these new child-care spaces and helping Brantford families find affordable and accessible child care.

“With the opening of these new spaces, more parents and caregivers can balance their careers, education, and family at a reasonable cost with peace of mind. The City of Brantford is committed to building a supportive community that allows children and families to flourish. I want to express my sincere gratitude to Pinehurst Childcare Centre, City staff, and all those who worked to make this new child-care centre possible,” added Kevin Davis, Mayor for the City of Brantford.
