City celebrates grand reopening of Dufferin Park

City of BrantfordCity celebrates grand reopening of Dufferin Park

City of Brantford, together with the Holmedale Neighbourhood Association and hundreds of residents, celebrated the grand reopening of the newly renovated Dufferin Park on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis, Ward 2 Councillor John Sless, along with Councillors Dan McCreary, Mandy Samwell and Rose Sicoli, and representatives of the Holmedale Neighbourhood Association cut the ribbon to officially reopen the new and improved Dufferin Park.

“It was a wonderful day to welcome residents and celebrate the grand reopening of this park and recreational space,” said Kevin Davis, Mayor for the City of Brantford. “It’s clear that residents are very pleased and excited with the many new amenities for this park including the new building, tennis and pickleball courts, and playground. These will provide even more outdoor recreational opportunities for Brantford residents for years to come. My sincere thanks to the Ward Councillors who championed this project and to City staff for all their hard work in making it a reality.”

The all-day celebration included free live music entertainment, family-friendly activities, including meet and greets with Poppy from Trolls, Q-MACK basketball superstar, pickleball and tennis activities, and more.

Dufferin Park new and improved features:

  • A modern, centralized 1,050 square foot building with indoor meeting space, outdoor patio area, kitchenette, storage and accessible and universal washrooms
  • Six tennis courts and six new pickleball courts, with lighting and access to shade structures
  • Accessible playground with rubber surfacing and inclusive We-Go-Swing‚ and shade structure
  • Asphalt multi-use area including a basketball court
  • New parking lot with accessible spaces and drop-off area
  • Accessible pathways
  • Enhanced landscaping

The newly renovated playground and multi-use court are now open for the entire community to enjoy. Pre-booking is available for Dufferin Park outdoor courts, open daily until October 31, 2024 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting.
