The County of Brant has received another donation for the Cainsville Community Centre.

“On behalf of Council and the community, we would like to thank Dave and Sandra Rees and his mother, Eleanor, for the incredible donation to the Cainsville Community Centre,” said Mayor David Bailey. “To honour this generous gift, the Community Room will be named the ‘Allan Rees Community Room’ in memory of Dave’s father and Eleanor’s husband.”

The new Cainsville Community Centre is expected to be a central gathering place and is already busy taking bookings for the new year.

“We have had our business, Fleetway Transport Inc., located in Cainsville for many years,” said Rees. “My father, Allan, built Fleetway’s new terminal in 1988 on Garnet Road. Over the years, we held many social events at the old Cainsville Hall and know how much a centre means to this community. My father was a very humble man with a mountain high passion for his business and the people that he worked with. I think if he were here today he would be 100% committed to supporting the new Community Centre. He would be very proud as this area was very much a big part of who he was.”

The Community Room can accommodate 350 people and has vaulted ceilings, wrap around windows and glass doors that lead to the beautiful covered patio. In total, the Community Centre will be 9,200 square feet, single story, designed to blend with nature and offer modern and transformable features to meet the community’s needs. It will showcase sustainable design features such as solar energy, energy efficient fixtures and equipment and electric car charging stations.

The cost to build the new Cainsville Community Centre is $5.1 million and the fundraising campaign is $1.5 million. The fundraising committee is looking for people and businesses who can make a major contribution to the campaign.
