City of BrantfordDan McCreary announces candidacy in mayoral by-election

Dan McCreary, Ward 3 Councillor for the City of Brantford, declared his candidacy for the upcoming Mayoral by-election on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

“In a time when our politics has become so fractious and divisive, Dan strives to bring people together and build on our progress. His deep-rooted passion for Brantford and dedication to public service drive his candidacy. Dan believes Brantford requires a leader with a business-minded approach to city management. He is eager to address the city’s challenges head-on and serve the community with integrity, dignity, and diligence.”

Born and raised in Brantford, McCreary is a graduate of Pauline Johnson Collegiate and the University of Toronto. After managing a successful contracting firm in Calgary, he returned to Brantford in 1990 and ran a thriving business until retiring in 2020. McCreary has served as Ward 3 Councillor since 2003.

Currently, Chair of the Finance Committee, McCreary has also shown pragmatic leadership in many other roles , including Chair of the Social Services Committee, Red tape Committee and numerous task forces. He is also currently chairing the committee to reinvent public engagement in the community decision making processes. McCreary also served for 20 years as the council delegate to the Chamber of Commerce Brantford Brant.

“He has been a consistent advocate for fiscal responsibility and taxpayer relief. McCreary is also a strong advocate for sports, leading the Major Sports Liaison Committee and a strong advocate for arts and culture.”

McCreary and his wife, Lorie, have two children, Rachel (Naresh) and Connor (Mallory), and three grandchildren, Nathan, Grace, and Hannah.
