Driver charged after failing to stop for Six Nations Police

Police have arrested and charged an Ohsweken resident after the driver failed to stop for police at a traffic stop.  

Officers of the Six Nations Police were on general patrol when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Fifth Line Road at approximately 3:50 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024.

Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle failed to stop for police. Pursuit of the vehicle was terminated. A short time later, the vehicle was again observed on Bicentennial Trail. The vehicle pulled into a parking spot where police were successfully able to block in the vehicle. Police observed a lone male exit the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Signs of impairment were observed on the male.  

As a result of the investigation, police have arrested and charged Jacob HARRIS, 23-years-old, with the following criminal offences: 

– Impaired Operation 

– Alcohol per se Offence “80 plus” 

– Dangerous Driving  

– Flight from Police 

– Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle  

– Class G1 Licence Holder – Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver 

– Class G1 Licence Holder – Drive at Unlawful Hour  

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford, Ontario on October 31, 2024. The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
