GRCA issues flood warning for Brantford and Six Nations

Local NewsGRCA issues flood warning for Brantford and Six Nations

Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) has issued a flood warning for the City of Brantford, Six Nations of the Grand River and Haldimand County on Friday, April 4, 2025.

A mixed precipitation event resulted in greater than 100 mm of total precipitation in many areas and increased runoff causing flooding in some parts of the Grand River watershed. While the weather system has passed, river flows will continue to increase in the Grand River south of Brantford over the weekend as water makes its way downstream.

GRCA Reservoirs

The GRCA’s multi-purpose reservoirs were operated to reduce the impact of downstream flooding during this event. Stored water is gradually being released to return the reservoirs to their normal level for this time of year.

Stay Safe

Residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with local municipal flood response programs and be prepared for flooding due to the elevated risk at this time.

Banks adjacent to local waterways are very slippery and, when combined with cold, fast-moving water, pose a serious hazard. Parents are reminded to keep children and pets away from all waterbodies.

River conditions and forecasts are being monitored closely, and any additional flood messages will be issued as needed.
