Impaired driver attempts to flee scene of collision

Members of the Six Nations Police Service were notified of a vehicle in the ditch on Second Line Road at approximately 3:10 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

Officers were advised that the driver was attempting to leave the scene.  

Police arrived on scene and located the vehicle along with multiple witnesses who advised police that the male driver was being confrontational with bystanders and had fled the collision on foot after being denied help to leave the scene. Witnesses provided a  description of the male driver.  

A short time later, police located a male who matched the description on a property a short distance away from the scene. The officer approached the suspect, who refused to comply with police commands and became combative with the officer. The officers were able to successfully place the male under arrest.  

As a result of the investigation, police have arrested and charged Guss GARLOW (36-years-old) of Ohsweken, ON with the following criminal offences: 

– Impaired Operation 

– Alcohol per se Offence “80 plus”  

– Operation while Prohibited x 2  

– Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest 

– Fail to Stop at Accident  

– Dangerous Driving  

The accused was held in custody pending a formal bail hearing. The vehicle was placed on a 45-day impound.
