Five employees from Jersey Mike’s Subs used their expert wrapping and packing skills to assist Child Hunger Brantford in preparing 300 individual lunches for local school children on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
Child Hunger Brantford is a non-profit charity dedicated to providing nutritious meals to children who are facing food insecurity in the city. Every morning, volunteers prepare a variety of snacks and lunches for elementary students, which are then delivered to seven participating schools.
“We always send packages to the school with a main dish for lunch, as well as plenty of snacks so that way if a child hasn’t had breakfast, then they can grab a yogurt or cheese or something along those lines,” said Dawn Hall, founder of Child Hunger Brantford. “It’s funny because kids are really honest and so we know that the shepherd’s pie tends to be one of their favourites and so a lot of the time we’ll send extra from them to take home if they need that as well.”

The program is ultimately designed to help to ensure that students don’t go hungry throughout the day, and can instead remain focused on their studies and what they’re learning in school.
When Jersey Mike’s opened its Brantford location this past December, the franchise teamed up with Child Hunger Brantford and encouraged its customers to donate a minimum of three-dollars to help fund the local non-profit organization.
With March being Jersey Mike’s 15th annual Month of Giving campaign, customers once again have the option to give back to the school lunch program by rounding up their purchase to the nearest dollar or to donate an extra one-dollar, three-dollars, or or five-dollars when placing their order.
To top it off, the Month of Giving campaign will officially culminate with Jersey Mike’s “Day of Giving” on Wednesday, March 26. On that day, the Brantford location will be donating 100 per cent of the day’s sales (made in-store, online or through the app) to help support Child Hunger Brantford.

Hall said that she was incredibly grateful for the franchise and everything its done to help her program
“Having the employees here to help pack these lunches has just been awesome,” she said. “Jersey Mike’s has been amazing to partner with and between the opening and now with the Day of Giving… it’s really just been incredible. I’m feeling really thankful for them.”
“This program is all free for the kids and it’s open to anyone that needs it and so having this type of support really makes a big difference,” added Hall.
Jerseys Mike’s Month of giving has been running since 2011 and has raised over $113 million for local charities across North America.
