Kevin Davis, Mayor for the City of Brantford, returned to the Brantford Police Services Board on Friday, August 23, 2024.
The Brantford Police Services Board plays a crucial role in overseeing the provision of police services, law enforcement, and crime prevention in the city. As the legal entity responsible for the proper conduct of the organization, the Board is accountable for ensuring that Brantford Police Services (BPS) adheres to the standards and regulations established by the Government of Ontario under the Community Safety and Policing Act.
The Brantford Police Services Board comprises five members: two Council Members appointed by resolution of Brantford City Council, one Community Member appointed by City Council, and two persons appointed by the Lieutenant Governor. The Board is responsible for setting the priorities and objectives for the Brantford Police Service in consultation with the Chief of Police.
Mayor Davis expressed his enthusiasm for rejoining the Board.
“Doing everything we can to help keep our community safe is a top priority of Brantford City Council, and I am committed to working closely with the Board and our dedicated police service to ensure that together we uphold the highest standards of policing and public safety in our city,” said Davis.
A new Board Chair will be elected at the next BPS Board meeting on September 12, 2024.
