Local non-profits launch new program for young people

Local NewsLocal non-profits launch new program for young people

SOAR Community Services (SOAR) and Child and Family Services of Grand Erie (CFSGE), two local non-profit organizations, announced a new partnership  that will establish a bed-based program designed for young people requiring intensive support, who are in the care of CFSGE on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

This innovative program aims to provide a community-based, safe and nurturing environment for young people requiring specialized care, ensuring they receive the support necessary for their growth and development.

The program will focus on offering comprehensive care, tailored to each individual’s unique needs. With a dedicated team of trained professionals, the facility will integrate educational support, therapeutic services, and recreational activities, fostering an inclusive and engaging atmosphere for young people. The program will support up to five youth and will be operated within the City of Brantford at a property owned by the CFSGE Foundation.

“This partnership represents a significant step forward in addressing the needs of our community’s most vulnerable children,” said Sally Johnson, Executive Director of  CFSGE. “By combining our resources and expertise, we can create a program that not only provides immediate care but also lays the foundation for the long-term well-being and success for each young person.”

Kim Baker, Executive Director, SOAR, added,  “We are committed to supporting CFSGE and ensuring that the young people who participate in the program have access to the care and support they need.”

The program is expected to be operational in the spring of 2025. Further information will be provided closer to the date of opening to inform the community about the initiative and the goals of the program.
