The Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating two reports of counterfeit currency being used at businesses on King Street in Burford on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
At approximately 1:06 p.m., a male suspect entered a business and used a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase a pack of cigarettes, receiving approximately $75 in change. The suspect then attempted to break an additional $100 bill but was refused.
The suspect is described as:
- Caucasian male, approximately 50 years old
- Wearing a black jacket with “Home Hardware” on it, black “CAT” baseball cap, tan pants, and glasses
- Grey beard

Later that evening, at approximately 6:45 p.m., a second male suspect entered another business in the area and used a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase food, receiving $90 in change before leaving.
This suspect is described as:
- White male, 25-35 years old
- Wearing a black hat, beige jacket, grey jogging pants, and tan-colored shoes
- Witnesses observed a large quantity of $100 bills in his wallet
Investigators believe the two suspects may be working in coordination. The Brant County OPP has obtained CCTV footage and images of both suspects, which are being released to assist with identification.
