Over 100 charges issued during traffic safety initiative

Six Nations Police conducted a two-week Back to School Traffic Safety Initiative, which ran on September 3 through September 6 and then again from September 9 through September 12, 2024. 

On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, the Six Nations Police began enhanced traffic enforcement measures to ensure the safety of the Six Nations community while children were travelling to and from school. Police focused on school zones around several local schools. 

As a result of week two of the traffic enforcement, a total of 39 charges were laid:

– 1 charge of Operation While Prohibited – Criminal Code 

– 38 charges for Speeding – Highway Traffic Act 

Police also issued ten warnings for Stunt Driving. One vehicle was towed, and one vehicle was impounded for 45 days. 

Over the two-week period of the Back to School Traffic Safety Initiative, a combined total of 108 charges were laid. 

The Six Nations Police would like to remind the community to always be mindful of your speed limit and to obey all traffic laws. Traffic enforcement in our community  remains a priority to ensure the safety of everyone.
