Six Nations Police release RIDE program offences

CrimeSix Nations Police release RIDE program offences

During the 2024 holiday season, the Six Nations Police  conducted multiple Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) programs  around the Six Nations territory. A total of five (5) R.I.D.E programs were held between December 7 and December 31, 2024.

During those five R.I.D.E programs, a total of 770 vehicles were checked through the program. Multiple warnings were given for an inoperable driver’s window, a broken windshield, not wearing seatbelts, broken headlights/taillights, and how to properly secure a child’s car seat. Six (6) Approved Screening Device Demands were issued. Two individuals were arrested and charged under the Criminal Code for impaired and driving-related offences.

R.I.D.E. Campaigns are more than enforcement. It is about awareness,  prevention, and education. Road safety is a shared responsibility and continues to be a key priority for the Six Nations Police throughout 2025.

We would like to  remind motorists about the dangers of impaired driving. All motorists are  encouraged to plan ahead and arrange for a safe ride home. Please don’t drive if you are going to consume alcohol, cannabis or any type of drug. Anyone who spots a suspected impaired driver is asked to immediately call the Six Nations Police at 519-445-2811 or 911.
