Brantford Bulldogs C Patrick Thomas became the seventh player in franchise history to play 200 games but the Sudbury Wolves spoiled the occasion, winning 3-1 on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
It was a quiet first eleven minutes to start the game, but the visitors opened the scoring with 8:05 left. Near the Brantford net, C Hudson Chitaroni tip-passed the puck to LW Tayion Street and shot the puck through a screen that got past the right pad of Bulldogs G David Egorov for his first OHL goal to give the Wolves the 1-0 lead.
In the second period, the Bulldogs pressed for the equalizer, but Sudbury G Nate Krawchuk kept the door closed with ten saves in the middle frame. On the other hand, Egorov was up to the task, with seven saves, including a highlight-reel pad save on Wolves C Kocha Delic, with less than nine minutes left in the period. Through forty minutes, the score remained 1-0 for the visitors.
Sudbury C Nathan Villeneuve took advantage on a scramble in the Brantford crease and bested Egorov for a 2-0 lead early in the third period.
The Bulldogs cut the deficit to a goal at the 2:36 mark. Shortly after the faceoff, RW Nikolas Rossetto buried one past Krawchuk for his second of the season.
As the period progressed, the Bulldogs continued to press for the tying goal, but their inconsistent play ended their comeback effort. With 9:25 remaining, the Wolves took advantage of the Bulldogs miscue in the neutral zone, which was converted into a two-on-one breakaway, which resulted in a goal from RW Ondrej Molnar.
The Wolves clamped down the rest of the way and left the Civic Centre with the 3-1 win.
